Hi friends! I am so happy to share my latest commi

Hi friends! I am so happy to share my latest commissioned painting with you! I’ve painted it behind the scenes through the last year and It feels like 20 paintings into one, given the daring size for my range of movement. I yearned so much to be present for it, I turned the camera off.

More about its meaning below, and some of my favorite moments. I’d be grateful if you shared how it makes you feel, if anything at all!

The person requesting this painting is very special to me and she had lofty wishes for me:
To see the essence of my spirit through my colors and marks, so that I could find an Eden where we can see with the eyes of our souls, where everything is more vivid, and to free myself through the process, so that my hands, arms and shoulders wouldn’t suffer. — Quite a challenge, that became!

I played and freed myself through some sessions, and got lost in heavy storms too.
Little by little, through a hundred hours, lived in 8 months, it started evolving, taking me to my favorite horizons, dreaming of breathing their air, renewing myself in a million washes of water and mist.

I have giggled like a child in a new adventure, and timidly dared to let go into a place of recognizing myself, my pain, trusting the love placed on each mark, on each trial and error, remembering I am part of more than I could possibly imagine.

My reoccurring song, perhaps a prayer, through this process sounded like “Grant me a dream filled with color and water, grant me a dream, where I feel I am beyond what my eyes can see. We are all part of more than we could ever see”. I am grateful and humbled for all I’ve been given in this process, which has been so much.

I’ve named it “Regálame un sueño” - “Grant me a dream”

— It’s been a year since I’ve shared my art, not intentionally for so long. A year of reckoning, navigating the weeds of growing stronger into my well being and protecting my emotional and mental health. — I am learning so much.

Through the last 6 months I've been working with @

Through the last 6 months I've been working with @artlifting to become part of their community of championed artists! This week the news of this new path is out! Will you join me in celebration?

A bit of back story...
I’ve always wanted my work to become an act of service, even though I haven’t always known how. — Well, little by little, mark after mark, that intention to create and serve people where hope and calm are deeply needed is becoming more tangible!

One of the best parts is that it will all be in collaboration with this great organization, which focuses on championing artists impacted by disability and/or housing insecurity by connecting our art with socially-conscious businesses and customers.

What does that mean? A selection of art pieces I've created since acquiring my motor disability will be available exclusively through ArtLifting as art prints in different sizes, materials and frame options (ready to hang!) plus more exciting projects! - (link in bio)

From home, to corporate and hospitality projects, handled by their team, I hope to bring you and others moments of connection to our own inner source of joy and hope when it is needed most!

My heart is overjoyed and so grateful for this opportunity to participate in bringing awareness to our worthiness and struggles and to foster more empathy and compassion through this new chapter!

I will continue creating original work, which at times will become exclusively available though the ArtLifting collection.

This one is one of the last paintings I created for my most recent series called “Adventure Within” - It was a hard one to resolve and I almost discarded it as a failure, mostly because it became somewhat gloomy in the process. Somehow I just kept going back to it, trying to see it under a different light; one that didn’t declare gray days
unworthy…

And so while camping under a storm for a long, long time, the notion that “this too is part of what it takes to keep going” came to me. –Although I didn’t know the outcome, a breath of renewal brought the sight of a tiny garden blooming. – Perhaps I could wander here a while, breathe in the smell of scary thunder and fresh rain, then let them slowly become a garden to rejoice in hope again. – I have called it “A place to wander”

Sharing just a few thoughts of what creating paint

Sharing just a few thoughts of what creating paintings means to me as I enter year 6 of ongoing adaptation and healing after motor ability loss. —No, not all days are this colorful. So many days are still very hard. Grief and comparison continue to show up in my life and art practice more often than I’d like to admit…

…AND those days (no “but” here) always have at least a split second moment that depending on how I see it becomes inexplicable celebration for life, making hope visible again…

These are some of my favorite! — the ones that come like soothing memories in color and imagination and that I hope carry that same feeling to share with you. 💓

Experiencing joy and grief at the same time can feel so bittersweet sometimes! It’s definitely an ongoing lesson for me and I feel very lucky to be able to share these simple moments with you! — Thank you for welcoming me here.

These last couple of months I’ve been in the dep

These last couple of months I’ve been in the depths of beginning a new series after gathering much needed nurturing in my native home, Colombia. — I came back craving a change in palette and a very important need to adapt further to friendlier ways of painting for my body and to continue on a never-ending path of letting go of the ways I knew that don’t belong to me anymore…
-
So I got myself huge spray bottles, a fun air brush, and larger brushes and began studying it all almost daily. I’ve learned a lot, found uncertainty, surprise, frustration and fear, friends or foes depending on the day...🙃

…and then finally! Finally colors started mingling with guidance. I see something taking shape in between the mist of my favorite horizons and the fog that is learning to accept and love who we are, with our limitations and abilities while only being able to see so far.

It’s such a promising space! —Here are my top 3 favorite of many experiments and I can’t wait to let it all unravel and to keep learning…

60 seconds of uncertainty and joy on a quest to fi

60 seconds of uncertainty and joy on a quest to finding new colors for my next series become filled with new acceptance and honesty. I’m still unsure of where it’s going after a full month of studying and I’m finally starting to feel a trust that tells me it will all reveal itself and in that process new healing will come.

This one is “Quietly” friends! — a spark of a silent memory, a much needed moment of rest in between seasons of thunder…

Perhaps a split second of gasping for air through a journey of now welcomed uncertainty.

Quiet, long sitting fog laying gently over a horizon filled with uplifting possibility when I stay there and allow it to move slowly to reveal it.
